FRENCH NAVY SHIP VENTOSE TO VISIT FOR WEEKEND

Dec. 5, 2002 – The French ocean patrol vessel Ventose will visit St. Thomas from 9 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6, until Monday morning.
An October visit had to be canceled, said French Consul for the Virgin Islands Odile de Lyrot, when the ship had to participate in an operational emergency with an American task force. That emergency resulted in the seizure of 2,640 pounds of cocaine.
The ship is based in Fort-de-France, Martinique, and patrols throughout the Caribbean and further oceans.
The ship will be berthed at Crown Bay Marina, and visits aboard ship can be organized from 2:30 to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday through de Lyrot at 881-5452.
