PARTS AWAITED TO FIX MANDELA CIRCLE LIGHTS

July 15, 2003 – As motorists traveling between downtown Charlotte Amalie and points east are well aware, the traffic lights at Mandela Circle are malfunctioning.
Robert Moorehead, acting Public Works commissioner, described the situation at the busy intersection as "a major technical problem" in a Government House release issued on Monday.
He said parts needed for repairs have been ordered from Puerto Rico.
Until the signals are again functioning normally, Moorehead urged motorists "to proceed with extreme caution" at the circle, where the Long Bay, Estate Thomas and Havensight roads intersect.
