MAN SHOT AND KILLED IN SMITH BAY

July 22, 2003 – Police are investigating the latest homicide that occurred at 3:30 a.m. Tuesday outside a nightclub in Smith Bay.
According to a report on Radio One, sources said Police Major Crime detectives were called in the early morning hours after an as-yet-unidentified man was found shot to death on the roadside adjacent to the Gift Night Club.
Witnesses told WVWI Radio One that Deputy Police Chief Elvin Fahie and Lt. Randolph De Suza, chief investigator, were on the scene along with other high-ranking Police officials.
Witnesses also said the incident attracted a large crowd of onlookers, including members of the dead man's family.
Police worked in the rain gathering evidence.
It was unknown as of publication time if the weapon was found or if any motive for the shooting had been established.
Tuesday's killing marks the 14th homicide on St. Thomas in 2003. It is the territory's 18th killing.
