Dear Source,
I enjoyed reading the editorial written by Lawrence Boschulte on NBA playoffs: Ads could have been big V.I. payoff.
I think it was very well written and is be something the Tourism Department and the Government of the Virgin Islands should take very seriously as a source of generating additional revenues for the Virgin Islands. This gentleman was generous enough to share his thoughts and ideas on a matter which would have a tremendous positive effect if implemented.
Tourism is always looking for slogans. His idea of: "How about trying to set up some type of one-on-one commercial featuring both players with the conclusion stating we have more than basketball in common: 'Visit our home, St. Croix'"? I am sure Tourism can work with Lawrence and a number of creative-thinking individuals from our islands to solicit ideas.
In addition to Tim Duncan and Raja Bell, we also have another native sun in the spotlight: Wayne Brady of the "Wayne Brady Show," Drew Carey's "Who's Line is It Anyway," a number of commercials for International Delight currently running, and a 2003 Daytime Emmy Award host and winner for his daytime talk show.
These are things/people that we seriously need to capitalize on and I agree with Lawrence Boschulte 100 percent.
