WEST END TRAFFIC TO BE DIVERTED FOR WAPA WORK

Aug. 1, 2003 – The Water and Power Authority will be installing water lines to serve the Contant Knolls community from Monday through Aug. 22, and the work will impact on the flow of traffic in the Nisky-Contant area.
While WAPA crews install the 10-inch water main, eastbound traffic will be detoured along Moravian Highway between the Nisky Center and Cyril E. King Airport road intersections, according to a release.
This Monday through Wednesday, eastbound traffic lanes will be closed between the two intersections, with traffic diverted to the northern lane of the westbound side of the highway.
From Wednesday through Aug. 22, the eastbound stretch of the highway between the airport and Chinaman Hill turnoffs, including the center and turning lanes, will be closed from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
WAPA asks that motorists proceed with caution in these areas and observe directions from flaggers as well as temporary traffic signs.
The water line extension will provide potable water service to the Contant Knolls housing community. The $745,000 project is being funded 37 percent by WAPA and 63 percent by Community Development Block Grant money, the release stated.
