EDUCATOR TRAINING FOR 'TRANSITION' SET

Aug. 3, 2003 — Educators and parents are invited to two-day "secondary transition" training sessions aimed at easing the transition for special students to middle and high schools.
The St. Thomas-St. John District professional development activity is scheduled for Aug. 18 and 19 on St. Thomas; the St. Croix session will be Aug. 21 and 22. Registration is requested by Aug. 8 to Josette Pascal at 774-4399, said a release.
The purpose of the training, said Belinda West-O'Neal , state director of special education, "is to provide participants with the appropriate requirements of transitions and strategies to make the transition process for students come alive through their high school years."
The training is targeted to middle and high school special education teachers, middle and high school regular teachers who work with special education students, middle and high school principals, high school guidance counselors, and parents.
