Aug. 3, 2003 — Fred Laue of the Inn at Pelican Heights is the new president of the St. Croix Hotel & Tourism Association.
The association, dedicated to improving the economic outlook on St. Croix for local residents by increasing the number of visitors to the island, held elections on July 10 and 17.
Laue was elected for the first time to lead the association. At the general meeting July 10, members elected the following board of directors: Elizabeth Armstrong of the Buccaneer Hotel, Claudia Carrington of Carrington Inn, Simone L. Parmer of Sand Castle on the Beach hotel, Sweeny Toussaint of St. Croix Safari Tours, Sal Sempere of Olympic Car Rentals, Joann Lang of Divi Bay Carina Bay Resort, and Linda Bruton of "The Settler's Handbook for the U.S. Virgin Islands."
On July 17, the officers of the board were elected. Those officers are: Armstrong as vice president, Carrington as treasurer, and Parmer as secretary. The two appointed members of the board were Omar ErSelcuk of Seaborne Airlines and Barbara Shattles of Divi Carina Bay Casino.
