Aug. 11, 2003 – The St. Croix Environmental Association will zoom in on Mars during an evening of stargazing Wednesday, Aug. 27, when Mars will be at its closest to Earth in more than 50,000 years (only 34 million miles away). Amateur astronomers Woody Montier and Rick Starr will host the event at the East End Pony Club in Cotton Valley starting at 7 p.m. Additional telescopes are welcome.
