Sept. 3, 2003 – All eight Saturdays and Sundays in September are "dollar days" at Coral World for V.I. residents.
Admission is just $1 on each of those days for local adults and children — who usually pay the V.I. rates of $8 for those age 13 and older and $4 for youngsters ages 3-12.
The marine park attractions include opportunities to meet Duncan, the turtle; count the varieties of marine life in the Caribbean Reef Encounter; pet a shark in the Shark Shallows; and in general "have the best family outing possible," a release states.
For Coral World visitors, additional adventure activities are available at local summer rates. These include Sea Trekkin; a ride in Nautilus, the semi-submarine; parasailing; power snorkeling; SNUBA underwater exploration; and more.
This is the second year that Coral World has offered residents admission to the park for a dollar on September weekends. The promotion proved to be hugely popular last year, and Trudie Prior, general manager, said that "September Saturdays and Sundays" at Coral World are fast becoming an island tradition.
The marine park is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The ticket booth closes at 4 p.m. For more information, visit the Coral World Web site.
