ARAWAKS CAP SEASON AS TOP GUNS

Nov. 24, 2003 — The end has finally come, and as a much-greater crowd than usual can attest to, the Private School Arawaks have completed their undefeated season with a 30-16 victory over the Ivanna Eudora Kean School Devil Rays.
Beginning with good tidings for the Devil Rays, Kyla Lamotta made an early touchdown after an Arawaks fumble near the goal line, followed by a two-point conversion forced in by the powerful Lucien Maddocks.
Refusing to be outmatched, the Arawaks came back in the second quarter, nabbing a touchdown by Terrance Bonelli and tacking on the two-point conversion by Mathu Barry.
The half ended with the game knotted at 8-8. In the third quarter the Arawaks proved they are powerful second-half performers. After a turnover by the Devil Rays, the Arawaks rumbled on, using John Marsh to score a touchdown followed by a two-point conversion by Terrence Bonelli to take the lead at 16-8.
Refusing to stop, the Arawaks recovered the ball at their own one-yard line only for John Marsh to score a 99-yard touchdown on the very first play. A missed two-point conversion left game at 22-8.
In the fourth quarter, the Devil Rays made their last-ditch effort and scored another touchdown and two-point conversion — both by Henry Belle — making it a closer contest at 22-16.
But the Arawaks refused to let the Devil Rays close the gap. Miles Davis scored his first touchdown of the day and John Marsh converted for two, ending the game at 30-16.
