BAA LIBRARY RESUMES EVENING HOURS, ADDS BOOKS

Nov. 24, 2003 — Enid M. Baa Public library is once again open in the evenings. It had been closed because of lack of staff but beginning Nov. 18, evening hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays are maintained.
The new audio book collection is now available for loan. This collection of 80 books on CDs includes very recent novels, poetry collections, classics, Shakespeare's plays, speeches of Martin Luther King Jr., plays, history and biographies.
A database system has been added to the public libraries of the territory, allowing all library cardholders to access the latest magazines, newspapers and updated reference materials without charge from a home computer or the computers in the library, a release said. A Spanish language collection has been added to the library. These books in Spanish include history and geography of the United States, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, novellas and classic literature. New Caribbean titles have been recently added to the Von Scholten Collection, which is open only from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Several new titles by African-American authors have been added to the Baa Library.
Saturday Morning Children's Reading Program continues from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays in the children's room, lower level of Baa Library.
On Dec. 12, during Miracle on Main Street, the library will be open for tours and activities for children from 5 to 8 p.m. There will be caroling in the garden and beverages of the season will be available.
Kwanzaa will be celebrated at the Baa Library Sunday, Dec. 28, from 1 to 4 p.m.
The Friends' fund-raiser for the new library has been postponed to February 7, 2004, to allow time for further negotiations and groundbreaking for the Tutu library.
