Dec. 5, 2003 – The Frederick D. Dorsch Cultural Activity Center in Frederiksted will be rededicated on Tuesday, and the public is invited to attend the ceremony.
The facility, once known as the Open-Air Theatre, was first dedicated in 1933, according to a release from the Planning and Natural Resources Department issued on Friday. In the decades that followed, it "served as the setting for meetings, graduations, dramatic presentations and exhibitions which added much of a significant value to the community life of Frederiksted," the release stated.
The rededication ceremony is set for 2 p.m. at the center, located on Strand Street in Frederiksted.
DPNR Commissioner Dean Plaskett described Frederick Dorsch, for whom the facility is named, as an educator remembered for his "outstanding, loyal and unselfish contributions to St. Croix and the Virgin Islands."
