TESTING OF WAPA RICHMOND UNIT WILL BE NOISY

Dec. 5, 2003 – The Water and Power Authority will be letting off steam Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at its Richmond plant.
It's a testing procedure for Unit 11 that is "required as the final stage in the overhaul of the unit which began in August," a WAPA release issued on Friday stated.
People in the vicinity of the plant will hear "loud noises intermittently as the exhaust steam is released," the announcement said, noting that the utility would "adhere to all environmental standards for this procedure."
