Dec. 17, 2003 – The Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands has a new Web site, and it's intended to serve as a public information resource. To visit it, simply click here.
"Information is now accessible to students wanting to learn more about CFVI scholarships; to individuals and other non-profit community groups wanting grant criteria and applications; and to the community at large," a CFVI release issued on Wednesday stated.
The foundation "supports innovative programs that enhance the educational, physical, social, cultural and environmental well-being of children, youth and families in the Virgin Islands," Dee Baecher-Brown, CFVI president, said. "We are confident that our new Web site will help us in our mission by providing better access to our services."
The recently released 2003 Kids Count Data Book, "Our Children Now! Getting off to a Good Start," is posted on the site, making it accessible off-island as well as locally. So is last year's report, "Our Children Now! Where Is Our Commitment?"
Also included is a 2004 Community Services Directory compiled by CFVI. It lists not-for-profit agencies and other community groups in the territory, providing a brief description of their services along with contact information.
"On the Web site donors and potential donors can see the programs and projects supported through their generosity and can also find the information they need to become a CFVI Angel or to start a named fund," the release stated. Also posted are recent press releases and the foundation's history and mission.
And soon visitors will be able to download application forms for CFVI mini-grants, scholarships, teachers grants and other funding opportunities. Updates will be posted regularly, especially in the "What's New" section, the release said.
