Dear Source,
Delegate Donna M. Christensen is a breath of fresh air, and I applaud her for what she is trying to do. For those arguing that this takes away the powers from our democratically elected officials, keep in mind: The federal government will not long allow the current situation of debt accumulation to continue. Just like with the Housing Authority, at some point they will say "enough is enough."
We already carry a staggering debt that can never be paid back and exceeds the per capita debt of any state of the union and is many times the per capita debt that caused the recall of Gov. Gray Davis.
So while this action would do Gov. Charles W. Turnbull a favor, by forestalling a federal takeover, does it really go far enough to convince the feds that we can get things turned around?
