SCHEDULE OF SEASONAL HOLIDAYS AND LEAVE DATES

Dec. 23, 2003 – V.I. government workers get an extra full day off during the yearend holidays, thanks to a proclamation by Gov. Charles W. Turnbull: the day after New Year's Day. That means public employees territorywide have two four-day weekends coming up.
Here's a rundown on the government holidays and administrative leave dates from Christmas through Three Kings Day.
Thursday, Dec. 25 – Christmas Day, a V.I. holiday
Friday, Dec. 26 – Christmas Second Day or Boxing Day, a V.I. holiday
Tuesday, Dec. 30 – administrative leave for government employees on St. Croix only from 1 to 5 p.m.
Thursday, Jan. 1 – New Year's Day, a V.I. holiday
Friday Jan. 2 – administrative leave for government employees all day, all islands
Tuesday, Jan. 6 – Three Kings Day, a V.I. holiday
A Government House release states that administrative leave "shall not apply to essential employees, employees on a regular or rotating shift and employees on annual or sick leave."
The release also outlines the following Crucian Festival dates:
Tuesday, Dec. 30 – Food, Arts and Crafts Fair
Thursday, Jan. 1 – J'Ouvert
Friday, Jan. 2 – Children's Parade
Saturday, Jan. 3 – Adults' Parade
In addition, the governor has authorized "commissioners and agency heads to grant administrative leave to non-essential employees during this festival season in order to encourage greater participation in the activities on St. Croix and to enhance the celebration of the Christmas Festival by all residents and visitors."
