UVI SETS SCHEDULE FOR SPRING ORIENTATION, CLASSES

Jan. 1, 2004 – Orientation activities for University of the Virgin Islands students will be held Monday to Friday, Jan. 5 through 9, on the St. Thomas and St. Croix campuses. There will also be a late registration period for continuing students.
Spring 2004 semester classes begin Saturday, Jan. 10. Detailed schedules follow. For more information visit the UVI Web site.
St. Thomas Campus
Jan. 5, 10-11:30 a.m. – Math Placement testing for on-island students (required for students who scored below a 490 on the SAT-Math or 20 ACT-Math)
Jan. 7 – new student orientation
The schedule:
1-3 p.m., dormitory check-in
1:30-3:30 p.m., campus tour/mini fair
3:30-4:30 p.m., presentation by departments/administrators
4:30-5 p.m., residence hall and commuters meeting
5-6 p.m., dinner
6 p.m. until …, night entertainment
Jan. 8 – new student orientation
The schedule:
7:45-9 a.m., Math Placement testing for off-island students
8:30-9 a.m., continental breakfast
9-9:15 a.m., meet UVI executive officers
9:15-9:25 a.m., president's welcome
9:30 a.m.-4 p.m., various student meetings
1-7 p.m., new student advisement, registration and payment of fees
5-6 p.m., dinner
9 p.m. until …, Karaoke night
Jan. 9 – post-orientation activity, advisement and late registration
9 a.m. until …., island tour
11 a.m.-6 p.m., advisement and late registration
Jan. 10 – classes begin; post-orientation activities
6:30-8 p.m., general commuters meeting
8 p.m. until …, party
Jan. 12 – advisement and late registration; class add/drop period
9 a.m.-4 p.m., class add/drop period
11 a.m.-6 p.m., advisement and late registration
Jan. 13
9 a.m.-4 p.m., class add/drop period
St. Croix Campus
Jan. 5 – 10 a.m.-noon Math Placement Test (required for students who scored below a 490 on the SAT-Math or 20 ACT-Math)
Jan. 7 – new student orientation
9 a.m.-noon, writing and reading placement test (required for students who scored below a 500 on the SAT-Verbal or 21 ACT English)
11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., residence hall check-in
1:30-3 p.m., meet the president, chancellor and cabinet members
3:15-4:15 p.m., introduction to student affairs
4:30-5:30 p.m., dinner
5:30-7:30 p.m., student orientation, parent orientation
Jan. 8 – new student orientation
8:30-9:30 a.m., transfer student advisement
9:30-10:30 a.m., introduction to financial aid, business and facilities
10:30-11 a.m., introduction to academic support services and programs
11 a.m.-noon, distribution of block schedules
1:30-4 p.m., advisement, registration and payment of tuition and fees
Jan. 9 – new student orientation, advisement and late registration
9-10 a.m., international student immigration session
10:15-11:45 a.m., V.I. cultural orientation session
Noon-2 p.m., student clubs and organizations activity fair
Noon-6 p.m., advisement and late registration
Jan. 10 – classes begin
Jan. 12
noon-6 p.m., advisement and late registration, add/drop period
Jan. 13
noon-6 p.m., class add/drop period
