PUBLIC WORKS SEWER REPAIR TO CLOSE STREET

Jan. 9, 2004 – Christiansted's Hospital Street in the vicinity of the Old Barracks Yard will be closed to vehicular traffic on Saturday while a Public Works Department crew excavates and repairs a broken sewer line, the department announced on Friday.
Because the work involves the use of heavy equipment, the street must be closed while the work is underway, Public Works Commissioner Wayne Callwood said in a release. He said the crew "will be working diligently to repair the problem in the shortest time possible to avoid possible traffic congestion."
For more information, call the department at 773-1290, ext. 2224.
