V.I. CYCLING FEDERATION HOLDS FIRST 2004 RACE

Jan. 21, 2004 — On Monday Jan. 19, the V.I. Cycling Federation held its first race of the 2004 season. Twenty-seven cyclists were on the starting line at Rust Op Twist, some facing east, some facing west.
The riders rode to Clover Crest using any route on any bike. Several rode on Centerline Road, others went through the rainforest, and the mountain bikers rode the trails on Scenic Drive East.
Jamie Keys was the top finisher. There was a sprint finish for second place between Juancito Gario and Gabe Webber, with Gario taking second by less than a wheel's length.
VICF's next scheduled race, around the East End of St. Croix, will be on Feb. 8 . All riders with helmets are welcome.
