SEN. WHITE ASKED DPNR TO REMOVE EYESORE AND HAZARD FROM VESSUP BEACH

March 10, 2004 – Senator Celestino A. White, Sr. has written to Commissioner of Planning and Natural Resources, Dean Plaskett, requesting that his department remove an unsightly and derelict vessel off the shoreline at Vessup Bay Beach.
"This vessel is a noticeable eyesore deserted on the beach for several years now, in clear view of hundreds of residents and visitors going to and from
St. John," said Senator White.
Furthermore, Senator White notes that the prolonged existence of this dangerous wreck creates a safety hazard for inquisitive children. Likewise, beachgoers are forced to endure this unsightly wreckage decaying on the seashore of Vessup Beach. "Additionally, this blot marring the beach detracts from the Ritz Carlton expansion of the five-star hotel across the street," stated Senator White.
As a Member of the Committee on Housing, Parks and Recreation, Senator White said that he is amazed that this detrimentally harmful situation is allowed to remain unresolved for this length of time, and he has asked Commissioner Plaskett to expeditiously handle the removal of this unsightly vessel without delay.
