Aug. 12, 2004 – The University of the Virgin Islands Bulletin Board issued today has these announcements:

Convocation Mandatory for Faculty and Staff; Students and Alumni Are Invited
UVI President Dr. LaVerne E. Ragster has announced that the Fall 2004 University Convocation is a mandatory event for faculty and staff. Students and alumni are invited. Convocation begins at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 16. It will be videoconferenced utilizing Rooms 401 and 713 in the Evans Center on the St. Croix campus and Rooms T-101 and T-213 in the Teacher Education Building and Room B-110 (Chase Auditorium) in the Business Education Building on the St. Thomas campus. The president will discuss the university's budget and major initiatives moving forward.
Fall Semester Registration, Tuition and Fee Payment Extended to Aug. 13
The deadline for fall 2004 semester course registration, and tuition and fee payment for returning UVI students has been extended until 4 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 13. The deadline was extended, according to UVI Registrar Robert Fontaine, because of demand and computer processing delays. The extension covers returning students on both campuses. English 100 Placement Exam on St. Thomas Campus Rescheduled for Aug. 13
UVI's humanities department has announced that the English 100 Placement Exam for the St. Thomas campus has been rescheduled for 9 to 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 13. The exam will be administered in Classroom Administration Building Room 302. For more information call 693-1340.
Medical College Admission Test Set at UVI's St. Thomas Campus Aug. 14
The Medical College Admission Test will be administered at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 14, on the UVI St. Thomas campus. This test will be conducted in the Classroom Administration Building – Room 303. Candidates must report no later than 8 a.m. For more information call 693-1152.
Upward Bound Offices Announce Vacation Schedule
UVI's Upward Bound office has announced that the Upward Bound staff on the St. Thomas Campus will be on vacation from Aug. 9 to Sept. 7. The St. Croix staff will be on vacation from Aug. 23 to Sept. 7. The offices will reopen on Wednesday, Sept. 8. For information call 693-1130.
Reichhold Seeking Sales Persons for Program Booklet
UVI's Reichhold Center for the Arts is seeking sales persons to join the Center's team selling ad space in the program booklet distributed at Reichhold events throughout the season. Interested persons should contact Reichhold business manager Pam Sanes at 693-1554 or by e-mail.
UVI-CELL Announces Two Exam Preparation Courses on St. Thomas
The UVI-Community Engagement and Lifelong Learning Center has announced two examination review courses on St. Thomas.
– LSAT Review Course
This prep course provides a way to gain exposure to the concepts that appear on the Law School Admission Test national exam. Classes will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m on Mondays and Wednesdays from Aug. 17 through Sept. 29. The fee is $495.
– CPA Review Course
This course is designed for individuals preparing to take the Certified Public Accountant Exam. It provides a comprehensive review and practical skills to prepare for the exam. The course will cover areas such as auditing and attestation, financial accounting and reporting, regulation, and business environment and concepts. Classes will be held from 6:15 to 8:15 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays and from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays from Aug. 31 through Nov. 6. The fee of $1,195 includes four textbooks and software.
