Sept. 17, 2004 – The first edition of the Comprehensive Land and Water Use Plan maps will officially be transferred from the University of the Virgin Islands to the V.I. Department of Planning and Natural Resources on Sunday, Sept. 19. The transfer will take place in the ballroom of Government House on St. Croix from 3 to 5 p.m., according to Patrice Johnson, director of UVI public relations.
General and intensity district maps will be transferred to DPNR Commissioner Dean C. Plaskett. Government officials and partners involved in the project will be in attendance. The official transfer marks the completion of the first step in the process to adopt the Comprehensive Land and Water Use Plan, Johnson said.
The UVI Conservation Data Center, in conjunction with the DPNR and the Office of the Lieutenant Governor recently completed the update and automation of the maps for the territory. The maps were unveiled at legislative public hearings on St. Croix, St. Thomas and St. John.
