St. Croix's trees and bushes suffered a lot of wind damage. The. Department of Public Works had allowed residents to take green waste to the bin sites throughout the island.
Monday, the day Gov. Charles W. Turnbull cancelled the State of Emergency declared on Sept. 14, the DPW stopped accepting green waste at any of the bin sites.
"Residents were afforded the convenience of dumping Tropical Storm Jeanne green waste and debris, such as tree limbs and brush, at the various bin sites island-wide last week, but we are reminding residents that all green waste is now to be taken directly to the Anguilla Landfill," Wayne Callwood, DPW commissioner, said.
The Anguilla Landfill hours of operation are from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sundays. House-to-House collection has resumed and all collection schedules are expected to be back to normal this week.
Callwood reminds residents that all green waste, construction debris and metals are to be separated prior to delivering them to the territory's landfills and transfer stations.
