Public Services Commission Meeting Canceled Again

Jan. 26, 2005 – The Public Services Commission meeting has been postponed for the second time this month.
"With due apologies, the commission has concluded that it is unable to attain a quorum for the scheduled meeting for Jan. 27 and does not wish to waste the time or money of the parties or the public," attorney Boyd Sprehn, PSC legal counsel gave as the reason for the postponement.
Sprehn added that PSC Chairman Valencio Jackson would reschedule the meeting "for a date to be determined in February."
The January meeting had originally been scheduled for Jan. 11, but that was postponed after an island-wide blackout in St. Croix occurred the weekend prior.
Among the important items to be discussed during the January meeting were: a report from the V.I. Water and Power authority concerning the blackout in St. Croix, the V.I. Inspector General's report on his investigation of WAPA, a status report from Innovative Telephone about its settlement and consent order with the Federal Communications Commission, and a report from Innovative concerning the cost of providing DS3 service.
