News Brief: GERS Board Elects New Officers

Feb. 1, 2005 – The Government Employees Retirement System Board of Trustees elected new officers for two-year terms at its regular monthly meeting Tuesday.
Carver Farrow is the new chairman, replacing Raymond James. A release from GERS said Farrow is an active member of the system and the principal of the Bertha C. Boschulte Middle School on St. Thomas.
Marvin Pickering, senior vice-president and chief financial officer of V.I. Rum Industries Ltd., was elected to serve as the new vice chairman. Pickering replaces outgoing vice chairwoman, Leona Smith.
James and Smith will continue to serve as members of the board until their successors are nominated by the governor and confirmed by the Legislature, the release said.
