Feb. 11, 2005 – The Friends of Guyana St. Croix are appealing to the St. Croix public to assist flood victims in Guyana. In January, the South American nation was hit by the worst flood in more than 100 years. Residents and businesses are still suffering tremendous losses and thousands of residents are evacuated to shelters around the country.
Contribution of monetary donations, canned food, toiletries/disinfectants or dried foods are sought. Drop-offs are accepted every day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Castle Coakley's Ice House, located South of St. Peters Anglican church. Take the road opposite Sion Farm, next to the gas station. Look for the Guyana Relief sign.
For monetary donations, make checks payable to St. Croix Foundation and write "Guyana Relief" at the bottom. All donations will be forwarded to the nonprofit Alicea Foundation in Guyana for distribution to the Guyanese public.
