Feb 21, 2005 – A steady stream of people wandered through the fine art work presented in the 18th Annual Caribbean Fine Art Exhibit at Good Hope School Sunday.
The exhibit opened on Friday with an Art Preview and reception. It ran through Saturday and Sunday and closes at 2 p.m. Monday.
The event is billed as "St. Croix's most established and prestigious annual gathering of Caribbean artists."
This claim would be hard to contest as the exhibit features over 500 pieces from 80 local artists. It contained original artwork as well as prints, note cards, clothing, posters and jewelry. All artwork is for sale at the free event and a portion of the proceeds benefit The Good Hope School scholarship fund.
Many of the works ranging from watercolors to oils to photos to sculpture, already had red dots on them Sunday indicating that they were sold.
Suzanne Yunker is the featured artist for the exhibit. She has been painting on St. Croix since 1999. This is her third time in the show.
Her poster art, "Jump-Up Jumbies" was used to promote the exhibit. The art is was also used to produce an invitation for the Art Preview.
