Music, Dance and Cuisine To Celebrate Foreign Languages

March 11, 2005 – Philosophers and authors have long linked music and language; scientists and therapists use the relationship. So Profesora Violeta Donovan of the University of the Virgin Islands is following in good company with a program she has planned for Monday, March 14.
In honor of National Modern Foreign Language Week, within "2005: The Year of Languages," UVI's humanities division celebrates with dance and music and international cuisine from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, March 14, at the UVI Sports and Fitness Center.
Whether you choose to wander the world in dance or music or cuisine, here's the place to come. Miss UVI 2002 Lisa Wynne will be master of ceremonies for performances by the Caribbean Dance Group, works choreographed by Monty Thompson and by Janet Mescus; Addelita Cancryn Junior High Afro Antillean Dancers; professor Evelyn Lallemand and her French students; a Peace Corps School dance group; and more cultural music providers. There will be samples of food and drink from some 25 different cultures. And this world visit is yours for $5.
