DPNR Celebrates Safe Boating Week

May 19, 2005 – Safe Boating Week will be celebrated with a plethora of activities this Saturday through next Friday.
The Division of Environmental Enforcement, in collaboration with the St. Croix Power Squadron and the Coast Guard Auxiliary, are sponsoring events that have become a tradition in recent years.
They include:
May 21 Kick-off and Family Fun Day at the Altoona Lagoon 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.;
May 22 Boating Safety Display at the Sunny Isle Shopping Center Courtyard 12p.m. – 4 p.m.;
May 25 Courtesy Boarding for Safety Equipment at the Harvey Launch 11 a.m. – 2p.m.;
May 26 Boating Safety Display at DEE in Anna’s Hope 9 a.m. – 4p.m.;
May 27 Boating Safety Display at Sunshine Mall 12 p.m.-4p.m.
Dean C. Plaskett, commissioner of the Department of Planning and Natural Resources, in a recent press release encouraged all boaters and residents to take advantage of the educational information disseminated and services provided during this week.
