News Brief: Accident Takes Teenager's Life

May 30, 2005 – A St. Thomas teenager was killed and another escaped with no apparent injury when the vehicle they were riding in plunged over the waterfront bulkhead around 2 a.m. Monday.
The driver and the passenger were both seniors at All Saints Cathedral School. Police sources said the driver veered to the left to avoid hitting another vehicle that came to a sudden stop on the west bound lane. Firefighters, rescue personnel and police divers were all called to the scene to assist in retrieving those in the vehicle and to remove the vehicle from the waters of the Charlotte Amalie harbor.
Police have not commented on the accident, nor have they identified those in the vehicle. The accident occurred 18 days before the All Saints Class of 2005 was set to graduate. The school's administration is also expected to offer a public statement on the accident and the death of a member of the Class of 2005 sometime Monday.
