Devon Boulon Wins U.S. Open Championships

June 6, 2005 — St. Johnian Devon Boulon took a break from his European professional windsurfing season to win the U.S. Open Windsurfing Championships, held May 26-31 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Boulon won 12 of 13 races in varied winds and water conditions ranging from average to "some of the roughest conditions I have ever sailed in caused by the backwash off of the break wall" according to Boulon's web site.
He was accompanied to the event by fellow St. Johnian Mike Porter, with the two of them sharing driving duties from Boulon's base in San Diego. Next up on the schedule is the European Championships in Rhodes, Greece June 6 to 11. The Virgin Islands will have three representatives at the event in Boulon, Jimmy Diaz, and Mike Porter.
