2005 Summer Youth Employment Program

June 15, 2005 – The office of the governor has announced the requirements for any young person who wishes to be employed this summer by the government. Firstly, each youth must be at least 14 years of age. Secondly, he or she can only be employed up to a period of six weeks. To ensure jobs for all who apply, permission will not be granted to extend a youth's participation longer than six weeks. Thirdly, all summer referrals must come from the Department of Labor, regardless of funding source.
The following are the hourly wage rates for all youth based on their educational achievements as of the end of this school year:
$5.50………High School Students
$6.00………High School Graduates
$6.50………1st and 2nd Year College
$7.00………3rd and 4th Year College
$7.50………College Graduates
