Heraclia Amolohites Dies at 76

At the Mirabella Care Center in Phoenix, Ariz., Heraclia Amolohites, aka Helen Ames, passed away on June 9, 2005. She had made her home in Arizona the past five years since retiring from a long career at St. Thomas and St. John.
In 1968 she became administrative assistant to the general manager of Caneel Bay Resort on St. John, leaving a similar position with the vice president of Hiram Walker's in New York City.
Heraclia remained in that capacity with Caneel Bay for over 20 years before moving to St. Thomas as the administrative assistant to the general manager of Bluebeards Castle. Subsequent to her position at Bluebeards, she worked for H. Stern Jewelers and then as office manager at First Guardian Trust prior to retiring to Arizona.
Heraclia had many lifelong friends through those years in the Virgin Islands. She was a world traveler and visited with relatives in Greece and Australia, among other many destinations.
Heraclia was also an excellent designer and dressmaker, making many of the outfits she wore.
Whatever family occasion arose, Heraclia would travel from the Virgin Islands to attend. She was always the best dancer at these celebrations.
Heraclia leaves a sister, Margaret Voris of Manalapan, N.J.; and a brother, Constantine Barpoulis of Leesburg, Va.; five nieces and nephews; twelve grand nieces and nephews.
They will greatly miss her.
