Henneman joins VIPA Staff

July 21, 2005 – The V. I. Port Authority got a new face on its management staff this week. She may be a new face to VIPA, but Carol Henneman is not a new face to the Virgin Islands.
Henneman was appointed executive assistant and public relations specialist, VIPA Executive Director Darlan Brin and VIPA board chairman Robert O 'Connor announced .
She was formally introduced to the VIPA board at its Wednesday meeting.
Henneman is nothing if not versatile. She is a familiar name in St. Thomas government, media and education circles. A former assistant English professor at the University of the Virgin Islands, Henneman is also a published poet, short story writer and essayist, and a former assistant education commissioner.
Most recently, she filled in for host Lee Vanterpool on his Radio One AMVI program, where she bandied about local issues with the call-in listeners.
Henneman is married to Myron "Buddy" Henneman. They have two children, Alani, the Department of Tourism public relations manager, and Kareem, who Henneman said in a release, "resides in heaven."
Henneman told the VIPA board Wednesday that she is very happy with her new post and looks forward to helping the authority.
She can be reached at 774-1629, ext. 638, or at chenneman@viport.com
