July 22, 2005 – Queen Mary Highway — from the intersection at Estate LaReine and North Shore Road, to the turn in the roadway at Estate Strawberry — will be closed on Saturday and Sunday.
James McCall, acting police commissioner, said in a press release that the closure would be effective from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day to allow the Water and Power Authority to replace power lines.
There will be no vehicular traffic permitted to travel through this section. However, residents living in the Estate LaReine, Barren Spot and Strawberry will be allowed to access residences with guidance from the flag men on duty.
McCall apologized for any inconvenience this closure may cause. He asks that motorists use alternate routes when traveling in the area.
