My name is Daphne Harley, and I now live in California. Alva is married to my first cousin, Arlene. I've known Alva since he and Arlene first started dating. While attending college at Hampton, I would escape for an occasional weekend visit to Arlene and Alva's. I've always admired and respected him, and especially the loving and nurturing husband he's been to Arlene. No doubt that compassion and humility were evident in his work. I am saddened to see him go, and I am saddened for my cousin who has lost her best friend. I'm grateful I got to see him when I was home this past April. I'll cherish my memories of that last visit. Alva, rest in peace.
