July 29, 2005 St. Croix resident Raymond J. Williams was nominated by Gov. Charles Turnbull to serve a three-year term on the Public Services Commission.
If approved by the Legislature, he will replace Valencio Jackson, whose term has expired.
Williams, reached by phone at his St. Croix home, said he was currently unemployed.
According to Williams' resume, provided by Government House, Williams served as chief of staff for former Sen. Emmett Hansen II from January 2003 to December 2004.
His work experience also includes stints as environmental safety and health operations manager for Charlie's Diamond Ready Mix/Bechtel International on the Hovensa cat cracker project.
Williams served as a Section-8 inspector for the V.I. Housing Authority, as director of the V.I. Energy Office, as Occupational Safety and Health Administration director at the Labor Department, as safety and security officer at the V.I. Water and Power Authority, and as quality control manager at Timex Virgin Islands.
He was elected to the Board of Elections in the St. Croix District in 2002, is a member of the Democratic Party territorial committee and president of the Grove Place Action Committee.
Williams graduated with a bachelor's degree in industrial technology from Cheyney University of Pennsylvania in 1986. He also graduated from St. Croix Central High School in 1982.
His nomination needs approval by the Legislature before it become official.
