July 30, 2005 – St. Croix Chamber of Commerce officials met late last week with David B. Cohen, deputy secretary of Interior for Insular Affairs in Washington, D.C., to discuss matters relative to the overall economic condition of the territory.
At focus was a discussion on the Department of Interior's economic policies toward the territory during the past several decades.
Physically present were Benjamin Rivera, Jr., executive director, and James T. Carney, Chamber board member. Chamber members Warren B. Mosler and H. Duane Bobeck, joined via telephone.
According to a press release from the chamber, discussions included the problems facing the EDC program.
St. Croix Chamber of Commerce officials were present at the Treasury hearings in Washington, D.C., last week.
