V.I. Basketball Federation Announces Junior Men and Women National Selections

Aug. 1, 2005 – Head coaches Donald Bough and Geneva Morgan recently announced the players that would represent the Virgin Islands at the Centro Basket competition. The event begins on Aug. 4, in the Dominican Republic. The Junior Men's team will compete in Santiago and the Junior Women's team in Hato Mayor, according to a VIBF press release.
Our teams have qualified as one of three countries to represent the Caribbean Basketball Confederation in the Centro Basket Tournament, which is composed of the top eight countries in Central America and the Caribbean. This tournament will produce the top three male and female teams for the 2006 Americas Juniors Championships.
In the past, the Virgin Islands Junior Teams have won a silver medal for women and a bronze for men in Trinidad, so both teams have a good chance of going to the Americas Region next year. Below is a listing of the V.I. players. For further information, call 712-2320 or 690-2317.
