Humane Society Announces Scholarship Recipients

Aug. 18, 2005 – The Humane Society of St. Thomas and Clearwater Consulting Concepts, LLLP announce the recipients of their 2005 Scholarships given to college-bound high school seniors and students at the University of the Virgin Islands who intend to pursue studies related to animal care.
The 2005 Scholarship recipients are Xinovia W. Farrell, the writer of the best essay on the link between animal and child abuse and how people can prevent animal cruelty, who will be attending Jacksonville University; and Shamika N. George, recipient of last year's scholarship, who will be returning to UVI, according to a press release from the Humane Society.
"We are proud to award the scholarships for the second year in a row. Of course, this would not be possible without the generosity of Clearwater Consulting who also sponsored last year's scholarship," stated Cara Jo Hinton, chair of the Society's scholarship committee.
"By sponsoring these scholarships two years in a row and increasing the total amount from $1,000 to $4,000, Clearwater Consulting has made a firm commitment to animal care and the education of students in the Virgin Islands," said Joe Elmore, Executive Director of the Humane Society. "We intend to support the award recipients and see that Clearwater Consulting realizes a solid return on its investment."
