STD/HIV/TB Clinics to Close for Training

Aug. 22, 2005 – The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration will hold a three-day training next week for the staff of the STD/HIV/TB clinics territory-wide and the representatives of community organizations that are partners with the clinics.
All STD/HIV/TB clinics on St. Thomas-St. John and St. Croix will be closed for the training, which will be held from Tuesday, Aug. 30 through Thursday, Sept. 1, at the Wyndham Sugar Bay Hotel, according to a press release from the Department of Health.
Darlene A. Carty, commissioner of the health department, said that clients can access STD services at Community Health or Family Planning clinics, and HIV services may be accessed at the Frederiksted Health Center on St. Croix or the East End Medical Center on St. Thomas. All clients with emergencies should seek medical attention at the local hospital emergency rooms.
