Festival Parade Winners Announced

Jan. 9, 2006 – The Crucian Christmas Festival Committee announced the winners of the Children’s and Adults’ Parades on Monday.
Two entries, the Sparkle Lite Twirlers and the Ricardo Richards Elementary School Guardians Of Our Culture mocko jumbies, took home the win in their categories in both the children's and adult’s parade.
The Arthur A. Richards Junior High School was tops in the Adult's Parade troupes under-100 with their presentation of a Musical Journey From the Beat of the African Drums to the Sweet Melody of Jazz.
The madras-clad Crucian Circus Clown, an individual entry by Cuthbert Anthony, was also named a winner by the judges. Other winners included J & J fun Troupe & Associates, Rigidims Festival Troupe and St. Mary’s Steel Orchestra.
The new road march champions is the Stroka Band, with their song Leh Go – a mixture of quelbe and calypso that emerged as an early favorite. Other strong contenders were the X-Press Band with Wet Fete and 2004-2005 road march champions Xtaushaun Band with Monkey See, Monkey Do.
