Wind Power Will Better Serve the Virgin Islands

Dear Source:

It's such good news to learn that generating electricity by wind turbine is finally catching on in the Virgin Islands. It's hard to imagine why this technology was not used here years ago … actually it was, come to think of it … back in the days of the sugar mill plantations! We are blessed to be located right in the path of the ever-blowing Tradewinds … yet we have been burning oil to turn turbines to generate electricity instead of having these winds turn the turbines. Of course, there are powerful vested interests who benefit from the burning of oil, and who probably cringe at the prospect of wind energy finally being adopted, but the interests of the community at large clearly will be better served by the Wind.
