Feb. 8, 2006. The Carribbean Community Theatre's production of "Jesus Christ Superstar" is a stirring and provocative rock opera for all generations. CCT opened "Jesus Christ Superstar" on Friday, Feb. 3, and will continue the show on Friday and Saturday evenings for two more weekends, Feb. 10, 11, 17 and 18, at 8 p.m. There will also be a Sunday matinee on Feb. 12, at 4 p.m.
All shows are held at the NEW CCT Theater at No.18 Estate Orange Grove, Christiansted, St. Croix. Theatergoers should arrive early for best seating, as reservations will not be taken for this production. Ticket prices are $15 for adults and $8 for students.
With music written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice, the rock opera chronicles the last seven days in the life of Jesus of Nazareth as seen through the eyes of his disciple, Judas. It is directed by Lorraine Durand with music direction by Kathleen Dodge-DeHaven. David James stars as Jesus, with Lionel Downer as Judas, and Natalie Hollins as Mary Magdalene.
