The O'Jays to Perform at Reichhold

Feb. 6, 2006 — Soul music trio The O'Jays will perform at the Reichhold Center for the Arts Feb. 18.
Eddie Levert, Walter Williams and Eric Grant had a series of No. 1 hits in the 1970s, but their most recent hit "Why Don't We Make Up" was high on the R&B charts last year. Their past hits include "Love Train" and "Back Stabbers."
Levert, Williams, William Powell, Bob Massey and Bill Isles were childhood friends in Canton, Ohio, and they formed The Triumphs together in the late 1950s. They earned a modest record deal and quit high school to sing professionally. In the early 1960s, Eddie O'Jay joined the group and renamed it the O'Jays. A number of personnel changes followed over the years as members persued their own solo careers.
The group was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2002. Their most recent release was an album entitled "Imagine" in 2004.
The O'Jays concert at the Reichhold Center for the Arts is sponsored by FirstBank, VICA, & Marriott Frenchman's Reef. Tickets are available at Parrot Fish, Modern Music (Havensight), Krystal & Gifts Galore, Connections on St. John, the University of the Virgin Islands Bookstore and the Reichhold Center box office. For more information, call the Reichhold Center at 693-1559.
