Fort Frederik Museum Has Lecture on Maroon Culture

Feb. 17, 2006 – The Department of Planning and Natural Resources invites the public to the Fort Frederik Museum on Saturday, Feb. 25, for a Black History Month lecture presentation by Gene Emanuel on Maroon Culture. Emanuel is a professor at the University of the Virgin Islands, St. Thomas Campus in the Humanities Department.
The lecture will begin at 2 p.m. and will be followed by a question and answer segment. The lecture will cover Maroon culture and its impact on the Caribbean as a whole and on the Virgin Islands specifically. The Museum will waive its current admission fee of $3 for this special lecture. The museum will be open from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m.
