Feb. 23, 2006 – The St. Thomas-St. John District Schools will be closed this Friday, Feb. 24, so that faculty and staff can participate in intense professional development training sessions, according to a press release from the Department of Education.
The schedules training will focus on assisting staff in acquiring innovative instructional strategies. "The bi-annual training is part of the district improvement plan," said Superintendent Dr. Emily R. Carter. "This program will help to bring the St. Thomas-St. John District in line with the federally mandated "No Child Left Behind Act and the implementation of the Standards and Accountability Initiative."
