Colorectal Cancer Screening During Month of March

March 3, 2006 – The Charlotte Kimelman Cancer Institute is conducting a screening drive for people over 50 years or those with a family history of colorectal cancer. From March 1-31, screening kits will be available for a special fee of $10 from the offices of Dr. Lawrence Goldman on St. Thomas (Paragon Medical Building Suite 208, behind the Schneider Hospital), or Dr. Raymond Cintron on St. Croix (St. Croix Gastroenterology Center, Beeston Hill Medical Center No. 11). The kits are easy to use and upon completion the patient will be contacted if the results are positive. Look for coupons in the newspaper or at the Cancer Institute to take with you to the screening.
The Institute also invites the public to attend a seminar on "Colorectal Cancer Prevention and Treatment." Dr. Shirnett Williamson, M.D., director of radiation oncology, will present information on screening, early detection, and the latest treatments at 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 15, in the Bennie and Martha Benjamin Auditorium at the Charlotte Kimelman Cancer Institute.
