V.I. Sprinter Sets National Record in Moscow

March 11, 2006 – The Virgin Islands Track and Field Federation announced that Laverne Jones, the top female sprinter in V.I. history, advanced to the semi-finals in the 60 meters in the World Indoor Championships in Moscow, Russia, on Friday.
Jones, a graduate of St. Croix Educational Complex High School, set a national record and earned a personal best with a time of 7.22 seconds.
She is expecting a strong outdoor season in the 100 and 200 meters. For information, contact the V.I. Track and Field Federation at 643-2557.
