AFT and Chemical Workers Have Training Sessions

March 14, 2006 – The St. Croix Federation of Teachers Local 1826 with the American Federation of Teacher's and the International Chemical Workers Union Council will present a two-day training session on mold and mold remediation for pre-selected participants. It will be held for two days, Thursday and Friday, March 16 and March 17, at Divi Carina Bay Resort.
The training sessions will cover basic mold awareness, the health effects of exposure to mold in buildings, and methods for inspecting a building for leaks and water-damaged material that may promote mold overgrowth. Hands on experience, using simple equipment such as moisture meters, and an introduction to how mold should be properly cleaned up will also be covered. On the second day, participants will don the proper protective equipment for cleaning up mold, build a containment barrier and conduct a mock mold clean up.
For information, call AFT at 778-4414 or fax 778-8833.
